This 6 night tour has been specifically designed for the more serious cyclist who wants a great ride each day. The route passes through the Alentejo and Algarve regions of Portugal and on your way you will experience magnificent seascapes, pastoral farmlands and historical monuments. In spring the fields are awash with wild flowers and in autumn the changing colours of the leaves gives an added beauty.

The Algarve promises 300 days of sunshine a year so come and enjoy this wonderful ride.

The route uses quiet surfaced roads as much as possible.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Morning transfer from Lisbon to Azeitao and after visiting the winery and tile factory you enjoy a short afternoon ride through the Arrabida Natural Park with great views over the Sado estuary to the fishing port of Setubal, 31km. Overnight Setubal.

Day 2 – You start the day with a short ferry ride (fare not included) across the river Sado before turning the wheels along the Troia peninsula, passing nature reserves, stunning beaches and paddy fields to Santiago do Cacem famous for its Roman Ruins, 64km. Overnight Santiago

Day 3 – A ride through a gorgeous cork forest to the sea before following the coastline all the way to the beautiful coastal town on Vila Nova de Milfontes, 55km. Overnight VN Milfontes.

Day 4 – Today if you wish you can have a day off the saddle exploring the historical town of Milfontes and its famous beaches but if the saddle calls then you can enjoy a circular ride through small villages dotted with windmills and famous for their pottery, 29km. Overnight VN Milfontes.

Day 5 – You continue along the coast passing small fishing villages and beautiful beaches to the wonderful town of Odeceixe whose beach is considered one of the 7 ‘marvels’ of Portugal, 52km. Overnight Odeceixe.

Day 6 – Go south! Yes you continue almost directly southwards to Cape St Vincent (the most southwesterly point of Europe) before ending your ride in Sagres once home to the school of navigation of Henry the Navigator. Once oyu have had time to explore we transfer you and your bikes to Lagos, 60km. Overnight Lagos

Day 7 – Sadly you must leave us.
